Fantasian Neo Dimension December 3 2024 Stream Summary & Thoughts (Sample)
Ad for the translated summary + analysis of the Fantasian Dec 2024 stream with Sakaguchi Hironobu, Yoshida Naoki, KENN, Uchida Yuuma, available to tier 2 subscribers of the Full Metal Fukumi Ko-fi
Asalam Aleikoum how's it going. Square Enix held on December 3rd 2024 a live stream to celebrate the release of Fantasian Neo Dimension. The stream was divided into two parts. This is an ad for the summary of the first part I published on Ko-fi, detailing noteworthy moments, parsed with my own comments and analysis. I'll publish on Ko-fi an article on the second part on a later date insha Allah (I'm done watching it and summarizing it too but I still need to proofread and double-check a few things they bring up).
The stream had no spoilers, else I wouldn't have watched it seeing I haven't finished Fantasian yet.
One major reason I watched this stream is because KENN is one of my favorite seiyuu. Seeing he voiced Juudai in Yugioh GX (his debut role, and GX is an incredible series) and voiced Hibiki in Pretty Rhythm and its sequel King of Prism, my favorite anime series of these last 15 years.
In case you didn't know BTW, Fantasian is a masterpiece, by far one of the best RPGs of these last 25 years.
The stream's first part featured:
- Sakaguchi "I spent ****** on Pazudora as R&D for Terra Battle" Hironobu
- Yoshida "Gundam G-Qux was awesome" Naoki (I thought the series was bad from episode 1 and sadly my impressions only got worse)
- Uchida Yuuma, voices the protagonist Reoa (Leo in English)
- KENN, voices the robot Chikutta (Prickle in English) (I'm pointing out that some characters have different names in Japanese not only because I'm an otaku but also because that's one of the things they discussed on the stream. Sadly they didn't say anything in particular though. I'm specifying it now so this doesn't become false advertising).
The second part only featured Sakaguchi and Yoshida, who were joined by a reporter from Famitsu.
You can read this article (3990 words in total) after subscribing on my Ko-fi. Its for tier 2 subscribers, $10 a month. This is an ad, a "kanban musume" for the article to show up on search engines.
If you speak JP, hate reading my Unneeded Opinions like the one about G Qux above. And overall if you have no interest in my additional analysis and thoughts as a black french muslim otaku anime boomer, you can watch the stream yourself. I don't even mean this in defiant way or anything. (Unless you're racist then yeah get lost). I'm specifying this because Square Enix actually didn't private or delete the stream so it's still up on YT. Usually these streams disappear after a few months, and unless someone reuploads it on Bilibili or something it's pretty much gone forever.
SAMPLE
The stream started with Sakaguchi and Yoshida standing together, introducing each other. Yoshida introduced himself as the stream's MC, something he never do these days, so he was quite nervous. Sakaguchi was like "You?? Nervous???? No way lool". (As a big shot at Square Enix it's extremely rare for Yoshida to do this. That's also one of the reasons why this stream was interesting. Wish more people would stop idolizing him or other famous JP devs like Yoko Taro etc, and realized they're just regular otaku and not geniuses making all their games alone or whatever).
After replaying the latest trailer, the duo moved to the set where Uchida Yuuma and KENN were awaiting them. They introduced themselves too. Yoshida needed some time to get ready and get his script in order and was like "it's been ages since I last MC'ed a stream lol".
Intro chit-chat
It's been around a year since the Neo Dimension project started. It all started with Sakaguchi asking Square Enix if they're interested in making a new version of the game for all platforms, with voice acting, etc. Overall, he's surprised it only took a year for this version to be produced.
Yoshida said Square Enix recently announced they're going full multi platforms, so in a way this is the first game following this policy change.
Sakaguchi was there for Uchida's first recording session, giving him directions on how to voice the protagonist.
Uchida: I felt like I was meeting god lol. (I cringe so much when I hear people say stuff like this. But since I'm a muslim in france if I said that in public I'd get police raided.)
Sakaguchi: I'm a FF14 fan so that's my line lol (Uchida voices FF14 cat boy G'raha Tia. KENN also voices Urianger.)
KENN said he grew up playing FF so he was really impressed back when he first met Sakaguchi as well (hinting that it was before working on Fantasian), and how humble he was, just casually shaking his hand and chatting.
Uchida played the original Apple Arcade version three years ago, but unlike KENN didn't go in detail regarding his FF history (he did later on in the stream).
That's all for the sample. Full article on Ko-fi.
