King of Prism x Idolmaster SideM Collab
Details and thoughts on the Idolmaster SideM x King of Prism -Your Endless Call- Minna Kirameke! Prism☆Tours collab
Full details on the Idolmaster SideM x King of Prism -Your Endless Call- Minna Kirameke! Prism☆Tours (Kintours) collab were revealed on July 30, 2025.
Key Visual with the Over the Rainbow characters drawn by Matsuura Mai
First you have this key visual above, with from top to bottom, right from left, S.E.M (Maita Rui, Hazama Michio, Yamashita Jiro), and Over The Rainbow (Nishina Kazuki, Mihama Kouji, Hayami Hiro).
This is a really good key visual because each group is doing something related to the other group's franchise.
The pose OTR is doing is the 情熱のポーズ "passion pose", which is S.E.M's signature pose. For many years now a lot of fans like to draw various characters parodying the pose too, so it's cool to see an official collab doing it.
Meanwhile S.E.M are holding the same Yume Shousetsu books that I think appeared in a new OTR Prism Jump in King of Prism Dramatic Prism 1 (Kindra), the previous Kinpri movie. (I still never watched the last episodes of SSS and Kindra. And didn't spoil myself, but that's the gist of it I think).
"Yume Shousetsu" were initially web novels that were really popular, especially with women, in late 90s early 2000s especially on mobile phones. A lot of them let you self insert or have a character to self insert into. And a lot of them are romances but not necessarily. I'm not a specialist but I assume the most popular Yume Shousetsu works must have had a big influence on joseimuke (works primarily aiming at a female audience). Maybe similarly to stuff like Ace wo Nerae, Glass no Kamen, Angélique, etc.
You should really watch/read Ace wo Nerae and Glass no Kamen if you never did, they're a huge influence on pop culture as a whole, not just on joseimuke. They're at the same level as Devilman, Dragon Ball, Gundam, Macross, etc. Also they're among the direct influences of Pretty Rhythm. Liking these two series is why I started liking Pretty Rhythm so much when the anime started in 2011 since it's so similar.
The Yume Shousetsu in Kindra was about "living your ideal life with each OTR member". Pretty Rhythm and King of Prism director Hishida Masakazu wrote the novel for real and it was distributed to movie goers when Kindra was in theaters in November 2024.

Matsuura Mai announced on Twitter she drew the OTR members on the key visual. I couldn't find credit information regarding S.E.M. (Twitter sucks so I didn't bother looking much).
This is a huge collab, so thank God they properly got Matsuura Mai and not an uncredited artist like how it usually goes for merch, events, etc. (Matsuura Mai is one of the character designers of Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live, the original character designer for Hiro, Kouji, Kazuki in Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live, and the original character designer of all the new characters in King of Prism).

Free Merch For Movie Goers
In Japan, anime movies tend to distribute free merch to movie goers, and they change the merch every week so people go see the movie multiple times. It's first come first served so you gotta go early in the week or they can run out. The 7th round of merch for Kintours, from August 8 to August 14, will be a postcard with the SideM collab's key visual.
Special Video & Voice Drama
As a reminder, the 1st Kinpri movie in 2016, King of Prism by PrettyRhythm, became popular thanks to how it was made with Cheer Screenings in mind. There are scenes in the Kinpri movies where the audience can dub subtitles, sing along during the Prism Shows, use glowsticks, etc. The 2016 Kinpri movie heavily popularized these Cheer Screenings, and until the pandemic in 2020, every single anime movie would do Cheer Screenings too. Even stuff like the yearly Detective Conan movie. A lot of non-anime movies did it too, including action movies like Baahubali.
From August 8 to August 14, Kintours screenings will include a special video. It'll be a short story, (probably with only the characters' portraits and no animation), featuring the members of S.E.M and OTR, with S.E.M trying out Prism Dubbing (the term the Kinpri staff coined for the scenes the audience can dub during Cheer Screenings).
Moreover, before this special video premieres on August 8, a voice drama prequel will be released. It'll probably be uploaded on YouTube. When it's out, I will update this article with the link insha Allah. I hope it's like at least 5m long and not some 2m thing. It'll probably be a lot of fun, since it'll be the characters' first meeting and stuff.

Special Idolmaster SideM x King of Prism Cheer Screenings
From August 8 to August 14, 32 theaters across Japan will screen together with the Kintours movie a 50 minutes long special Idolmaster SideM 3D concert with all 16 SideM idol units. So the screenings will be around two hours long in total.
Most notably, the 3D concert will include a special video message from S.E.M. As far as I know, that special video message will be the sole brand new thing. The concert footage will be from various past 3D concerts of the SideM franchise.
That's all the information. This isn't a collab as big as the Aikatsu x PriPara crossover movie but it's still cool.
Like I said in the video above, I don't know that much about SideM. When it comes to male Idolmaster characters, I first learned about Jupiter like maybe 15 years ago, before SideM started, but that's it.
I don't know that much about Idolmaster as a whole either, except for Gakumas which I play and follow closely. I'm planning to write summaries for all the live streams that happened before the game released in 2024. When they would introduce each of the characters and their seiyuu. I'm also planning to do videos playing and summarizing each character's storylines. I only did it for Kuramoto China Step 1 (Episode 1-10) for now but I plan to keep going when I have the time insha Allah. And then write subs only articles on Ko-fi to share more in-depth impressions and stuff.
Miura Azusa (with her original long hairstyle) is one of my hypothetical future wives for 15+ years, but I never really got into Idolmaster for real. Never watched any anime etc. And I barely know anything about Deresute and Shinymas. I need to watch the original anime adaptations at least. Would like to try some of the games too. I started playing Starlit Season on PC when it released, but never had the time to continue yet.
Would be nice if I lived in japan and could play the original arcade game which is still at some places, and the brand new arcade game Idolmaster Tours.
There are a lot of things to say about how Bandai Namco handles Idolmaster, especially SideM. Overall I think that because of misogyny, a lot of companies tend to skimp on joseimuke franchises. But at least I'm really happy they made Tours, a game with all the Imas brands, including the boys. I really hate how some franchises make it so boys and girls characters never ever interact with each other so that purity otaku don't get mad.
煌めきを拡めつづけてくださっている皆様のお蔭で、キンツアが盛り上がっている今に、感謝しかありません。

Anyways, I hope more and more people discover King of Prism and Pretty Rhythm as a whole thanks to this collab. I feel like Avex has been spending more time and money on doing collabs this time. You had the Paradox Live collab a few days ago too. I think this SideM collab is probably the biggest one they did, in terms of bringing in new fans, since the Hypnosis Mic one in 2020.
At the end of the day Pretty Rhythm/King of Prism is still a really unpopular franchise, so they need to do more collabs like this. As of July 28, 2025, Kintours box office revenue just passed over 500 million (500,000,000) Yen. I think Kintours wouldn't have reached this number if not for including characters from other Pretty Series series (Callings from Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream, With and Mario from PriPara, Arrows from PriChan, Truth from PriMagi). There's one Japanese fan I know for a long while who tweeted they have mixed feelings with that, and how they wish Kinpri only featured Pretty Rhythm/King of Prism characters, but Avex might continue in this direction in the future.
As one of the old Pretty Rhythm Japanese fans I follow on Twitter for over ten years explained in 2024, the numbers Kinpri movies do are nothing in comparison with other stuff like the Ainana dual movies who passed over 3.2 billion (3,200,000,000) Yen of box office revenue in June 2024, one year after their release.
August 8 2025 update: The voice drama was published in several parts daily on social media. On August 7, all 4 parts joined together were republished as a single video. You can find it below.
