Kogado Studio Didn't Voice Dear Mirror Flower But Are Releasing ASMR Voice Drama For Each Chara
Kogado announced and started an ASMR series for Yagate Chiriyuku Kagami no Hana e (Yagatechi / Dear Mirror Flower) on June 20 2025, the day of the game's release. Been wanting to talk about it since.
The game itself has no voice acting at all. I assume this must be a better business model for them. Cheaper than voicing the game itself, but probably makes much more money. And serves as advertisement too if fans of the seiyuu will buy it and then check out the game to learn more about the character. These ASMR episodes tend to be slightly salacious scenarios too so people get honeytrapped even if they don't know about the game.
I'm not very familiar with the ASMR market, but maybe this will become a trend, if it already isn't.
I'm the type of mendou otaku who is very hard to satisfy and hard to get. This is a tangent but it's part of why I feel nothing towards 90% of sociage chara that people call attractive. I have no interest in ASMR too, even more so if it's a character I don't already know (I guess I'd like it if my hypothetical future wife recorded some for me though). So I don't understand people who'd buy these without having played the game first. But yeah I'm sure it must be working well.
I talked a bit about Dear Mirror Flower in a video in April 2025, a little bit after the game was announced. I played the demo but didn't have the time to buy and play the full game yet. I heard it's pretty short, as expected seeing the game's 24.50€ tag price.
I liked the demo and thought it was pretty interesting. The investigation, the mystery feelings, the characters. It all feels very familiar and extremely stereotypical and yet original at the same time. I don't know how to explain it. Personally one of the big reasons why I like it is the fact that the protagonist (male btw) is a kotodama user, and the two main heroines (sharing the same body) are satori. It immediately made me think of the relationship between Kotoha (also a kotodama user) and Ao (also a satori) in Yozakura Quartet, one of my favorite post 2000 manga. (It ended just a few months ago, I gotta catch up and write about it insha Allah).
Anyway I hope the full game is interesting too.
I don't really know why I wrote this post, just throwing a bottle to sea to see if anyone I know is trustworthy who actually knows a lot about ASMR answers my curiosity. And just wanted an excuse to talk about Dear Mirror Flower and other stuff I like. I also need to finish Star Melody Yumemi Dreamer one day, only played episodes 1-2. Really liked it you should try it out, unless you're a yuri extremist, as it's hard to tell via the steam page but there's a male protagonist.
Maybe Kogado is experimenting with various business models like this and see what works. Yumemi Dreamer feels like this too since they would release it in separate episodes.
Earlier this year I finished Aoi Umi no Tristia, a classic by Kogado that got a remaster for its 20th anniversary. Really liked it and thought it was a masterpiece, even if the remaster is heavily lacking in terms of quality of life features. I didn't make specific articles or videos about the game yet but I talked about it a little in this article about console purchases in our current era. I also gotta play the Power Dolls series and Palais de Reine.
