Not A Fan of Sociage OPs; (I Could Just Say I'm Not A Fan of Sociage Period.)

They're like some bio anime weapons engineered to give you ADHD. Or maybe the S(ociage) Virus???? Capsule Corp should hire me to write Resident Evil from now on. Rewrite Resident Evil 5 and set its setting to the USA where we kill some KKK goons. Keep the KuriWesu rivalry going instead of ending it there. And rewrite Jill completely instead of having her fall down a cliff and come back with the latex suit super saiyan virus in RE5? RE6? I'm not sure if I never knew about that, or if I knew and it was so stupid I forgot about it. I didn't even remember all that until seeing her alternate paid costume during the Athena collab. Anyway since the original series with 9 keeps going for new settings new characters, if you're doing remakes and milking nostalgia, might as well make it so the remakes' story is forever about the original characters. I used to care about the story in Resident Evil till 6.
But yeah I can't wait for the scene in Resident Evil 5 Remake when Wesker punches Chris for playing Uma Musume, saying it's predatory and gambling, and then Chris answers with "Hashtag Not All Uma Musumes" and punches back as they create A Better Tomorrow, Towards The Future of BL.
Now that we're done with the Nonsenseだわ introparagraph, I just wanted to rant about the new Athena OP.
I didn't like the original Athena opening that much in the first place, but one thing I liked is that it felt like an actual anime/game opening.
The original OP:
Meanwhile, the new OP revealed for the 3rd anniversary feels like the usual sociage openings. I don't like it at all. It's like each scene in the OP is actually from a different opening's storyboard. It sucks how sociage tend to have 100+ characters and then try to cram them all in in 1m30 to satisfy every single fan.
Like I always say, I'm not a sakugabuta. I don't know much or care much about animation techniques. There' still a few I can recognize though, and I dislike how every single sociage, be it Japanese Korean, or Chinese sociage, end up using the same animation techniques over and over again. I'm sick of seeing monochrome impact frames every single time everywhere.
There's also the issue of how this new Athena opening spoils all the main story and Events up to chapter 2x-ish or so, basically what I call the first two parts/seasons of the main story. What I call the Talkative/Modernia arc and the Eden/Ark you-know-what arc. I'm a mendou otaku who don't really mind spoilers myself but don't like it when spoilers are out in the open. Though to be fair there are a lot of things in the OP you only understand if you already know the story in the first place.
Anyway remember to sub to my ko-fi if you can support an indie otaku culture and politics journo. I didn't watch most of the 3rd anniversary live stream but I'm planning to write a summary of it for Ko-fi subs at some point. I wanna talk about all the jokes and seiyuu games/live dubbing they always do. I watched the 1st and 2nd anniversary live streams live and wrote about them but never published anything lol. I need to proofread and publish them one day Insha Allah.
I still need to write my impressions on the Nikke story as well. And actually catch up as I'm like 10 chapters and several majors Events behind. If I ever write articles on all that, and on my fav chara Yuni and Dorothy, it'd be subs only too.
Oh and last but not least, like I always said, if you're not already an Athena player, it's not too late. Don't play the game yourself, just watch the story (and the major Events) on YouTube. Gameplay loop gets way too boring after a while and they never managed to make it interesting in three years.
